on the mother and the artist.What is an artist and what does an artist look like? There is no set uniform for an artist, obviously, but it seems that as of late, society is trying to create one. An artist should look this way or that way, have this haircut or that haircut, and wear these kinds of clothes, and yes, yes, artists should smoke. What’s silly isn’t really that people stereotype artists this way, but rather that some people want to look like that just to be identified as an artist. Someone once even told me, “Elliot, if you’re ever to be taken seriously as a writer, you should learn to pick up smoking. All famous writers know when to have a smoke or three.” &nbon the mother and the artist.
